Okay, I am really feeling confident going into the Olympic Trails. Why? Because after watching Tiger Woods win the U.S. Open with a bad left knee I have the utmost confidence that I am a "Tiger Woods" type of athlete.
This season I have also been dealing with a left knee injury, a chipped femur bone. I'm not exactly sure how it happened but I believe one day when I was getting out of my car, the door swung back and hit my knee pretty hard. It's kinda crazy how a freak accident like that could cause so much damage. My knee was the size o****rapefruit the week before Penn Relays weekend, which caused me to stay home and initiated a five-week setback in my training. I was forced to alter my training, slowing me down to jogging, swimming and dramatically abbreviated workouts. With that being said, I can only hope that my knee injury will show me favor throughout the rigorous rounds of the 400 meters.
However, I worry not, because I know that it is going to take a lot more than a ba****nee to stop me from going out there and competing to the best of my ability. There have been people who have told me to quit because I haven't been running well, and there have been people that have told me with a very sympathetic heart to hang in there while at the same time glaring at me with eyes of disbelief. Yet, there have been a handful of people who have had my back throughout this entire ordeal, and who have encouraged me to do what I feel is in my heart and vowed to stand behind me no matter what decision I make. My heart is not accustomed to quitting; it only knows the high road of a champion. Therefore you will see me on the track just as I always am: focused, confident, blessed and stronger mentally and physically than ever. No matter what the clock might read, and no matter what I may finish, I know I am great because I fought all the way!
I guess it's just the "Tiger" in me, no golf clubs just spikes!
